Gift of the Givers, a non-government organisation who existed in Africa and whose sole purpose is to look after the wellbeing of communities, has placed drive-through test stations on four different places to test people for the Covid-19 virus. However, there are certain requirements the public must meet before they can be tested. One of the requirements are that a doctor must refer the person.
The tests are offered at cheaper prices to the public and will be done for R755 at the following test stations:
- Roshnee (close to Vereeniging)
- Wits University
- Mayfair Wes (doctor is also available for consultation at an extra cost)
- Ahmed Al-Kadi private hospital (Durban)
The test is done while the patient remains in his or her car and it is done by medical personnel who has the necessary PPE.
The test is limited to the criteria that meets that of the National Institute for Communicable Diseases. These include, among other things, a history of recent travel abroad or contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19 or someone showing symptoms of the virus.
The fee must be paid electronically via EFT to the Mulla laboratory before the test.
The test can be booked by phoning this tollfree number: 0800 786 911
